Experience

Gordon began his legal career practicing law in Washington, D.C.  He later joined the Portland law firm, Pierce Atwood, where he became a partner and practiced in the Health Law Department until 1995.  In 1995, Gordon became a founding partner of Kozak & Gayer, P.A.

Gordon had significant expertise in the field of health care law, but concentrated his practice in the area of tax-exempt bond financing for health care institutions.  He used his many years of tax-exempt finance experience to successfully guide our health care clients through the borrowing process with the Maine Health and Higher Educational Finance Authority.  On many occasions, Gordon would be borrower’s counsel to a majority of health institutions participating in a single bond issue.  His excellence in service and knowledge of the process were second to none.

After many successful years in practice, Gordon retired from active practice in October 2000.  He is now “of counsel” to our firm.

Gordon is an avid traveler, having visited many spectacular places in the world.  He is also very involved in many community service projects.  He resides in Cape Elizabeth with his family.

Education

Gordon is a graduate of Oberlin College and Northeastern University (A.B., with high honors). Gordon received his J.D. from George Washington University in 1978.
